My daughter Mary Moore is at The Glasgow School of Art in Scotland and sent me this as an example of some of the work that goes on there. This is a piece done by  a student that graduated last year from there in illustration.

Baby Bathroom

The bunny knobs were made by pressing clay into a wooden butter mold. and firing them in my kiln.

The shades on the light fixture are covered in red gingham and embellished with wooden buttons.

A little girl painted on wood offers towels on the wooden painted towel rack.

Visiting Hyde Park

I visited FDR's home in Hyde Park, NY today. This was really his mother's home and is plain and uninteresting compared to the lavish home of his neighbor Frederick Vanderbilt just down the street.!The grounds are beautiful and the view of the Hudson River is beyond gorgeous. I loved their barn and the little kilt he wore that is displayed in the Presidential Library which is also on the grounds. Mrs. Sarah Roosevelt seemed to love lamp shades. The one above is made from old Latin handpainted (probably) sheepskin song sheets.

Paintings I would have bought

I was at an antique store in Hudson, NY today and saw both of these painting that I would have bought, but I decided to leave them there for someone else.

Yesterday I was in Rhinebeck ,NY near Hyde Park the home of Franklin Roosevelt. It is the sweetest little village with the greatest stores. One of my favorites was Hammertown and another was Paper Trail whose window had the cutest Valentine paper dress.

Sarah's Room

One of my dearest friends recently asked me to work with her on her daughter's room. The room started out with dark brown walls except for one accent wall in a beautiful coral. We kept the coral, but instead of on the walls, we moved the color to furniture. The room was painted yellow to brighten it up.We kept the same iron bed, but painted it antique white in place of it's gun metal gray. Most of the furniture that we put in is antique. We repainted, added darling knobs,added lots of new lighting, built an ottoman and hung lots of Sarah's original art work on the walls. See what you think.

The bedspread that was already in the room dictated the colors and design ideas.

These are the lights that hang over the ottoman.

Bead board was added to the back of this chest and painted in subtle stripes. We added the flowers and the floral knobs.

I am in Greensboro, NC doing flowers for our church"s winter conference. When I went to a wholesaler to buy the flowers I found a new type of heather I was not familiar with. It's pink and very woody and amazingly beautiful in my opinion. My new favorite thing to do flowers in is mint julep cups. The other thing that I loved from the wholesaler was branches of blackberries!!! Here are some of the photos.

Country Living Fair in Scotland

I truly think toys in the UK are cuter than most toys. Mary Moore and I had the chance to go to the Country Living Christmas Fair in Glasgow, Scotland in November. So much fun!! But when you have to double the price of everything considering the pound and the dollar, we decided to be content just looking!!! Well... we did buy some wool scarves and two ice cream cones!! And left with a full head of ideas!!

Etsy is Uo Once Again

After a long lapse my Etsy site is up again. I guess it took me to get all the way to Scotland to once again focus!! haha And I forgot my computer so the pics are a bit fuzzy but the main idea is there. Tomorrow is one of the things i have been most excited about seeing in Glasgow. "Country Living" magazine UK is having a Christmas Fair. I will post pics tomorrow on that.

Traveling in Scotland

Mary Moore (my middle daughter) ia studying at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland and so I came to visit for 10 days. Though it is rainy and cold, it is wonderful. This weekend we couldn't decide where to go so we randomly took a train to the Firth of Forth. That is actually a body of water in Eastern Scotland. We went to Fife and more exactly a place in Fife called Aberdour(a village). I think I love to say all those Scottish words! I had asked Mary Moore over and over if she had seen any kilts walking around and her answer was always no until I came this weekend. They were everywhere and all on men! I LOVED it!!! I was a little shy to take their pics so at least you can see the tartan curtains in the Inn were we ate lunch.

We decided to have dinner on the way back in Edinburgh and that was so much fun. We found a flyer at the cozy pub where we had dinner that advertised a play. So we went to the play. And it was fabulous "The Story of a Rabbit" by Hugh Hughes.

Edinburgh was magical at night.

Aberdour was magical by day.

Perfect day.
