I remember in my twenties I lived in one room that I rented from a large house. I have a daughter that is doing the same right now.
 This summer there was a House Beautiful magazine that paid homage to those that live in small spaces. Here are some of their quotes:

Tile Mirror of Musicians

I recently finished a project for a powder room that was painted a lovely shade of grayish blue. I was asked to create a new mirror and light fixture .I took a painted sample of the color of the wall to the paint store and asked for two more shades in the same family to go with the original wall color.
 Here is what happened:

 The lamp has one of the flower tiles, a fun little finial and is painted in the same colors as the light fixture over the mirror.

 The tiles in between are painted to look like wallpaper.

 This is a close up of the light fixture while it was still in my studio. The little flower tiles make of clay showed up all over this bathroom. The original fixture before I painted it was very modern and silver shiny and made to hang the opposite direction. I flipped it over took off the globes that it came with and added metal lamp shades.

Taking pictures of mirrors is still a mystery to me how not to include myself in the shot!!

I have been in the process for the last month of making dolls. Some are for boys ,some are for girls(most) . This one was for my little friend Evie.

Thursday Night Tile Class

Have you ever wanted to know more about handpainted tiles or even better...paint some of your own? Well someone asked if I would teach a tile painting class so there is one next week. Thursday evening September 29,2011 from 7:30-9:30pm .

We will cover lots of tile information, a slide show of different kinds of handpainted tiles. We will look at lots of kitchens, bathrooms and fireplaces and then we will paint 4 different tiles with different techniques. After this introductory class you will be able to start a tile project of your own.

I have been painting tiles for people's homes for 22 years so I have a few things to say about them!! ha ha

The class is $85 and will include lots of info and 4 tiles that you will paint with 4 different techniques that will be fired that you can take home.  Let me know if you want to reserve a spot.

We will also have another floor mat painting class Wednesday September 28 from 9 am -12 noon. $45

Mary Moore Lowenfield's new work

Mary Moore is having a showing right now in the loveliest gallery in Glasgow called "Boxwood". Her work includes a series of 4 linocuts based on Glasgow. You can see the whole series on her blog . They all rhyme!!

New Little Twirly Jumpers

 My very favorite two year old model wears some of my new dresses. Evie is so adorable and I love the way she talks as well as what she says!! Her mama very kindle let me take the pics in her nursery. Thanks Beth.

This Week at the Studio
