I thought you might want to see the beautiful birthday window that Mary Moore created for the gallery and darling store that carries her artwork in Glasgow Scotland.

 Here she is standing in front of Boxwood's window she created. (the high was 50 today that calls for a coat!!)

The lovely owner of Boxwood Jill had some lovely things to say about Mary Moore:

A couple of months ago we wrote a wee thing about Boxwood now being 10 years old & got a lovely response from customers & our facebookers. Then I got a call from an artist I have worked with over the past year. She had seen my note & asked if she could design & make a birthday window for us...sure thing!

Not only is Mary Moore a talented artist but also an incredibly nice person to know, so I was chuffed to bits with the offer. Based loosely round an animals birthday tea party; the building & sewing started! And now voila, we now have a 5ft pig & a 3ft mouse in our window all enjoying birthday cake with a bunch of their friends!

I am so touched that Mary Moore asked if she could do this for us, I really hope we can help generate some business her way in return. We will soon be stocking her little animal decorations & we already have her cards & prints available.
So Happy Birthday us & a big thanks to Mary Moore!

Mary Moore Lowenfield's new work

Mary Moore is having a showing right now in the loveliest gallery in Glasgow called "Boxwood". Her work includes a series of 4 linocuts based on Glasgow. You can see the whole series on her blog . They all rhyme!!

Celebration in Scotland

Yesterday was graduation day in Scotland.

Then on through the drizzle to University of Glasgow of which the Glasgow School of Art is a part for the graduation ceremony.

Many classmates wore kilts but only of the male variety!

Mary Moore's Illustration

On Sunday I head over to bonnie ole Scotland to see Mary Moore graduate from college. I will get to also see her degree art show as she has majored in illustration. I will be posting about all of that but I wanted to give you a preview of a wee tiny bit of some work she just completed called "The Williams Family". It all started with a series she created last summer while in Providence, Rhode Island. One print in the series was about Roger Williams and the separation of church and state. Well she added a few members to Roger's family and each of the Williams' is quoted as well as pictured.

I told her I could imagine them blown up to be about 8' tall and hanging in a pub!!

Lovely Card

Mother's Day or Mothering Sunday in Scotland is April 3rd. My little Scottish lassie sent me a card last year and I was surprised by one in the mail today!! It is so very sweet that I had to share it. Handmade it is which is absolutely my favorite.

The ribbon is soft pink satin and the paper is from the UK. There is no US equivalent  to the smooth feel and delicate hand. 

The illustration is of  geese which are my favorite. Anytime I see a goose in the neighborhood, I always say it will be a good day!

I had a great time in Austin, Texas this past week at the Christmas Affair. I sold lots of my artwork and books but I sold completely out of the new "Mary Moore" design bags. We will have more soon. Be looking for them. I will keep you posted. Here are some of the fans and new owners of the bags.

Sometimes we all have to come to the realization that there are things in life that we are good at and then there are many things we are not good at. Then there is a whole other realm of things we admire but have no idea how they are done. This is my sentiment on Mary Moore's work. All I know is that I love it and hope you will as well.

Scotland Oh How Fair are you??

My daughter Mary Moore shared some photos with me that I have to ooh and ahh over. She went on an adventure to the Isle of Skye and sweetly shared a glimpse for me to see. So.. I can't but help to show you as well. I am so excited that I want to go grab my paints !! Hope you enjoy the inspiration as well.

I am hoping Mary Moore will use these scenes in some of her upcoming work?!

I am imagining a story about the children who grew up in these colorful cottages.

How lovely to sail away and then come home to your sweet cottage.

Or maybe I would prefer a stone cottage  with a meadow for my sheep and they each would know their names and come running when I called.

Okay I know it's weird to brag to brag on a child, but I am on the edge of my seat waiting for my daughter's card line to come out. Here is a glimpse of her anniversary card. The little girl's face makes my heart melt!!
